Chaplain’s Notes

Inaugural Year 7 Mass

On Monday 23 February the Year 7 families gathered at Our Lady of Victories Camberwell to celebrate the start of the new school year. For many it marked the beginning of their association with the College.

Parish Priest Father Morgan celebrated the Eucharist and in his homily he reminded all present of the great heritage they could claim as Christians and Lasallians. He spoke to the story of St John Baptist de La Salle and, citing the saying “from little things, big things grow”, he noted that “approximately 6,000 Brothers, some 75,000 lay and religious colleagues are serving as teachers, counsellors and guides to some 900,000 students in more than 1,000 educational institutions throughout 84 countries on planet earth” as a witness to what great achievements can come “when we are committed to seeking to know and do God’s will in our lives”.

Sacraments

Commissioning Mass – attention all Sacrament families

Each year we ask all parents and students who are going to receive a Sacrament during the year to attend a Commissioning Mass at St Anthony’s Parish, Cnr Grange and Neerim Roads, Glen Huntly. It is only about 10 minutes from the school.

Teachers, parents and students are asked to stand and indicate (as a group) their willingness to commit to working together in service of our young people who are preparing for the Sacraments of Reconciliation, First Communion and Confirmation.

The Mass will be at 11:00am on Sunday 15 March. There is parking at the rear of the church but please allow time as it can become quite congested and you may need to park on the street.

Please also advise me of your availability to attend: jferguson@delasalle.vic.edu.au.
