Letters to Gallipoli

On Tuesday 16 June students from De La Salle College and Sacre Coeur will be performing in the inaugural event Letters to Gallipoli.

The Gallipoli letters of the men and women of 1915 create an insight into the humanity of ANZAC and spirit of those serving; these century old words inspire De La Salle and Sacre Coeur’s 2015 Contemporary theatre piece.

Two performances are scheduled including a 2:00pm matinee performance followed by a 7:30pm evening performance.

Ticket proceeds go towards the purchase of a bus for an orphanage in East Timor.

More details will follow in the next edition of The Duce with booking information to be included.

Performance Assessment Levels (PALs)

In 2014, students enrolled in private music lessons completed a performance assessment at the end of each semester. This has be refined and renamed Performance Assessment Levels (PALs). The levels progress from Bronze 1 and 2 (beginner and early intermediate), Silver 1 and 2 (intermediate and early established), Gold 1 and 2 (established) then Platinum (expert and VCE).

PALs are designed to help students work through progressive, structured goals and achievement checkpoints in order to make the most of their musical experiences. In conjunction with ensemble and solo concerts, students should become well rounded musicians and proficient performers by the time they reach Platinum level.

Students have already been working towards the requirements for the performances which will take place during exam weeks. Performances are assessed by two music teachers and will form one lesson of the semester.
