House Athletics Carnival — Friday 4 March

On Friday 4 March, all College students in Years 4–12 will participate in the annual De La Salle Athletics Carnival. This will be the first of the House Carnivals for the year. The College Administration at Tiverton will be the only part of the College operating that day. The following information outlines the arrangements for this major College sporting event.

VENUE

Lakeside Stadium, Albert Park.

TIME

8:40am to 3:30pm
Events for Years 4 to 7 will begin at 9:30am
Events for Years 8 to 12 will begin at 9:00am

TRAVEL ARRANGEMENTS

  • Students in Years 4 to 7 will travel by bus to and from the venue and are required to report to the College by 8:40am for Homeroom. Buses will depart from the College at 9:00am and students will return to the College by 3:30pm.

If students would prefer to return home with their parents/guardians who are in attendance on the day, written consent must have been provided to class mentors.

 

  • Students in Years 8 to 12 will be required to report directly to Lakeside Stadium, Albert Park by 8:40am to have their name recorded in their respective house areas.

The nearest train station is the Southern Cross (Spencer Street) train station, and the linking tram from there is Route 96 (East Brunswick to St Kilda Beach) — Stop 129. Alternatively, Route 12 (City to South Melbourne/St Kilda) — Stop 131.

ATTENDANCE

This is a compulsory event for all students. Any student absences will be reported to the College Office and followed up by the Year Level Coordinator.

UNIFORM

As advised last year, ALL students in Years 4 to 11 are required to wear the new House polo shirts at House events. Year 12 students have the option of wearing their House polo or a t-shirt in their House colour.

A hat and sunscreen are required on the day, and also wet weather gear if considered necessary. Students are encouraged to wear appropriate running shoes and running spikes are permitted for those who have them.

LUNCH

Students may bring their own lunch and snacks for the day and are encouraged to bring a refillable drink bottle. Canteen facilities will also be available at Lakeside Stadium, open from 8:30am until 1:30pm.

MEDICAL CONSIDERATIONS

If on the day your son is unable to actively participate, he needs to bring a note signed by a parent or guardian. He may be asked to act as an official on the day.

First Aid will be available at Lakeside Stadium.

NB. All students with medical conditions, including asthmatics, those at risk of anaphylaxis reactions and diabetics, should ensure that they have their inhalers, home EpiPens and medications, including physical activity kits, with them. A limited supply of spare medication will also be on site.
