Year 10 VCE Industry and Enterprise class visit Port of Melbourne
A recent excursion to the Port of Melbourne showed the Year 10 VCE Industry and Enterprise class a side of Melbourne that most people rarely get to see. A highlight of the excursion, which is part of the student’s research into different career opportunities, was a visit to the observation deck of the Port’s five‐storey high control tower. From the exterior of the tower students could take in the full extent of the port activities and the road, rail and air networks on which the port depends every day. The Port of Melbourne is the largest container port on the country and currently employs more than 7,000 people in a range of professions and handles more than $90 billion worth of cargo every year.
