In the lead up to our Men’s Health Night on Tuesday 6 September and the R U OK day on 8 September, Leo’s House are encouraging everyone to take the time and be prepared to reach out and talk to someone in need, asking “R U OK?”

We all have people that love and need us — don’t let yourself or them down. Reach out, or let others reach in. We can make a difference.

The single biggest killer of men aged under 45 is suicide. In 2014, 4623 took their own life. That’s 12 men every day, 1 man every two hours! 41% of men who contemplated suicide felt they could not talk about their feelings.

Suicide in any gender is a serious issue, and it is important that we create an environment where all people feel comfortable opening up about issues they may be experiencing. A simple conversation can go a long way.

Only 20% of people know that suicide is the most likely cause of death for men age under 45. Let’s show everyone across the world that #ITSOKAYTOTALK
