Year 7 Reflection Day
Year 7 students recently participated in a Reflection Day run in association with the Youth Ministry Team (YMT). The photograph below shows Year 7 students participating in a prayer session to conclude their day of retreat. Students voted their experience with the YMT and College staff “a fun day”. In a lively and highly interactive presentation, the YMT invited students to reflect more deeply on community and their sense of belonging. The sessions culminated in an invitation to recognise that it is in relationship with the person of Jesus that they most discover their uniqueness and value.
Our Lady’s Month
Traditionally the month of May is dedicated to the Virgin Mary. It is also 100 years since Our Lady appeared to three children in the town of Fatima, Portugal. Between May and October 1917, several apparitions of Our Lady of the Rosary appeared to three shepherd children; Lucia dos Santos and her two younger cousins, Francisco and Jacinta. The last appearance, on 13 October 1917 was confirmed by a miracle witnessed by 60,000 people, known in the Catholic world as “the day the sun danced”. Our Lady asked the children to pray the rosary and encourage others to do the same, so that peace might be restored to the world. Each of our College Chapels has been provided with rosary beads to enable students to enter into this beautiful form of meditation.
