DLS Cross Country Championships — Wednesday 1 August

On Wednesday 1 August all Year 4 — 10 students will be participating in the Annual De La Salle Homeroom Cross Country Championships. It is an optional school event for Year 11 and 12 students.

The details for this day are as follows:


TH King Reserve (Melways Ref: 59 K9) and through to Gardiners Creek Valley, Glen Iris.


Primary to Year 10 will compete in the 3km course


DLS Bus or Driver Coach Bus


  • Primary, Year 7 and 8 will begin leaving school from 12 noon onwards.
  • Year 9 and 10 begin leaving from 12:15pm onwards.


  • Primary — 1:00pm
  • Year 7 — 1:00pm
  • Year 8 — 1:30pm
  • Year 9 — 2:00pm
  • Year 10 — 2:30pm


All Primary students will be transported back to school by bus with Primary Staff.

Students will be dismissed from the venue beginning at 2:30pm. Any students who need to be transported back to school have the opportunity to board a bus with staff.

In the case of inclement weather, students will be dismissed at the conclusion of their relevant year level event.


Students are required to wear full Sport Uniform to school ie. tracksuit, sports socks, T‑shirt, shorts and track shoes (not spikes). The course may be wet in spots. It is advisable that all boys bring a change of shoes and socks if possible.


The course will be revised with students prior to the event and will also be marked with signs and witches hats. Runners must always keep to the right of these markers. At no stage does the route cross a road and staff members will be situated along the course.

The course covers several surfaces including grass, bitumen, gravel and concrete pathways.


All students are expected to run or jog the course.

Any student who is unable to participate due to injury or illness should be present with a note of explanation from home to their Year Level Coordinator prior to the race. Students not participating will help with officiating tasks and may be required to complete the course at a later date.

NB All asthmatics should ensure that they have their inhalers and medication with them. Students with EpiPens are required to bring their EpiPen from home, with any other required medications.

Should severe weather look likely on the day, an announcement will be made during Tuesday 31 July. If the event is cancelled, all students will be expected to attend timetabled classes, with normal dismissal times.

Parents are welcome to attend this day and support the boys.
