The Year 7 and 8 Lightning Premierships have been played and won for another year.
Both Homeroom competitions were held on heavy surfaces but the weather luckily remained fine throughout both days.
Unfortunately, the Year 9 Lightning Premiership (27 July) was postponed as there was enough rain on that morning to stage a Year 9 Swimming Carnival on DW Lucas Reserve!
We are hoping to reschedule the Year 9 Football Lightning Premiership to a date later this term, possibly in the final week of Term 3 to coincide with AFL Finals fever.
The Year 8 Lightning Premiership was held on Friday, 3 August at DW Lucas Reserve. 8 Vincent defeated 8 Roland comfortably in the Grand Final by 30 points. The inaugural winner of the Andrew Carrazzo Medal for Best on Ground was won by Dimitri Fasoulis (8 Vincent).
Congratulations to the Premiers, 8 Vincent along with their very proud Homeroom Teacher, Rose “three in a Roe”.
The Year 7 Lightning Premiership was held last Friday, 10 August at DW Lucas Reserve. In an absolutely thrilling Grand Final, 7 Roland held of a fast finishing 7 Hegarty to win the match by just 5 points. The inaugural winner of the Jarryd Lyons Medal for Best on Ground was won by Jack Higgins (7 Hegarty).
Congratulations to 7 Roland and Jo Dickson (7 Roland Homeroom Teacher) for being the Year 7, 2012 Premiers!
The Year 7 and 8 Homeroom Competitions were played in great Lasallian spirit and the boys certainly enjoyed playing football as well as enjoying another De La barbecue.
The success and enjoyment for all would not have been possible without the assistance and involvement of the following people:-
- Simon Brown and Tom Curry (Sport Assistants);
- Year 7 and 8 Homeroom Teachers and both Year Level Coordinators;
- Peter Larsen and the Year 11 VCE VET Sport and Recreation students;
- Peter Riordan and John McAlroy;
- Karen Tillotson (Number 1 ticket holder of Year 7 Footy Day); and
- Alumni De La Salle student Field Umpires
These two year level events proved that De La Salle Lightning Premiership Football and spirited Homeroom Competition is still alive and well.
