ACC Sporting Fixture — Term 2, Week 5

Please find attached the ACC Sport Schedule for this Tuesday, 20 May — Friday, 23 May.

This week produced a “mixed bag” of Football and Soccer results but we certainly had a couple of De La Highlights on Thursday afternoon.

We were able to win just 2 out of 5 Lasallian Derbies versus St Bede’s with victories to our Year 8 and 10 Football Teams.

Our Year 10 Team scored their first win for the season and the Year 8 Team recorded a convincing 50 point victory against the reigning Premiers from Year 7, 2013.

St Bede’s were undefeated last year and won all 7 matches including the Grand Final with an average winning margin of 40 points.

With our Year 8 boys finishing 5th on the ladder last year in Year 7, it was a very tough assignment in Round 1 against the undefeated St Bede’s in ACC Football.

To defeat St Bede’s by 50 points and restrict them to just one goal for the match was a superb team effort and let’s hope it gives them great confidence and momentum for the rest of the season.

Our Year 7 Division 1 Football Team traveled to Mulgrave for their first taste of ACC Football.

On a massive ground with a strong wind as well, we were held goal less to half time and trailed by 3 goals. The trend of the match began to change early in the third quarter and the De La boys wrestled away total control of the match and dominated. By the final siren, we had scored 5 goals and another 5 behinds to Mazenod just 1 point to record a stirring 16 point victory.

Next week is a very busy week for De La Salle in ACC Sport with Football or Soccer matches being held on every day from Tuesday to Friday.

Despite our smallest field (just 15 entries) in memory, the De La Salle Founder’s Day Gift was held today with runners from Year 4 — 12 competing in the Heats.

A strong field of 6 was still assembled for the Final with Rohan D’Souza of 12 Benilde (off 3 metres) holding off the fast finishing back marker Chris Ghersi of 10 Dunstan to win the 2014 De La Salle Gift.
