A very excited group of students from Year 4 to Year 6 received the Eucharist for the first time on Sunday 26 October at St Anthony’s Parish, along with students from the Parish School and the Sunday School.
Congratulations to Alex Basile, Samuel Herdman, Harry King, Max Kolpin, Peter Pearse, William Richards, Benjamim Selkirk, James Simpson, Jasper Sparks, William Skehan, Harrison Barber and Isaac Ford.
As Father commenced the Eucharistic prayer the students gathered in a semi‐circle around the altar, at end of which they individually shook hands with Father Diamond, wishing him peace. The moment to receive the Body of Christ for the first time was solemnly approached by the students and their parents.
Families were pleased to have Principal Peter Houlihan and his wife Cate present to support and share with them in this special faith experience.
Twin feasts of All Saints and All Souls
This weekend the church sets aside time for celebration of two significant feasts. November 1 each year is dedicated to those men and women whom the church holds up to the faithful as having lived a life worthy of recognition and acknowledges their sainthood. The celebration is a reminder to each of us to live our lives with a keen awareness that our own journey is directed ultimately to being saints in the Kingdom of God.
November 2 is dedicated to All Souls. It is a time for us to remember and pray for those who have died. In the Catholic Church there is a long tradition of continuing our prayers and remembrance of the dead throughout the month of November.
