This week saw students on both campuses gather in front of the flag poles and before the cross adorned with the Australian flag to mark the annual remembrance of those who fought, were wounded, or died to preserve peace and democracy for us.
At Tiverton students Chris Groves, Leon Lymbouris, and James Biviano participated in leading the community in prayer, The Ode and laying a wreath, whilst Curtis Day lowered the flag to half mast. The challenging task of playing the Last Post was taken up by Alex Lindeman (Tiverton Ceremony) and Cooper Morrison (Kinnoull) who both excelled on behalf of the student body. Cooper also played for the War Memorial Dedication Ceremony held earlier that morning.
Head of Campus John McAlroy read the names of all those who are listed on the College Shrine. This year we paid honour in particular to past student Sergeant Blaine Flower Diddams of the Special Air Service Regiment, who died in Uruzgan Province, Afghanistan in July 2012.
In our final blessing we prayed that we might all go in the peace of the Lord, daring to believe in a new humanity – a world where justice and peace will flourish.
