Mission Action Day

Thank you to all students and staff for ensuring Friday’s Mission Action Day walkathon was an unqualified success.

Beginning and finishing at D.W. Lucas Reserve in East Malvern, the 12km route followed the Gardiner’s Creek path into Hawthorn and back. A special thank you to Mr Ian Oliver and the many devoted and organised staff on the MAD Committee who have met at 7:45am each Tuesday all term to plan the logistics.

With so very many of our students rising to the challenge of sourcing sponsors the pledged amount for 2014 is a record $103,000, which is simply outstanding.

Besides running like clockwork from an administrative point of view, the students’ involvement and behaviour was impeccable. I walked the whole 12km course and saw the majority of our boys at some point and they all followed directions, chatted to friends and staff and just enjoyed contributing to the day. This is a direct result of the positive relationships they enjoy with their Homeroom Teachers and the staff in general, something of which we can all be justifiably proud.

The collection of monies goes on next term, but as an event in aid of our Lasallian partners around the world, this is a tremendous expression of our College’s commitment to Social Justice.
