Year 7 Information Evening

On Wednesday, 5 February, 2014 Year 7 Parents attended an evening at the College which enabled them to become familiar with the technology that their son’s will be using in the classroom this year.

Firstly, the Principal, Mr. Peter Houlihan addressed the parents and outlined his expectations of the boys in respect of De La Salle College being a Lasallian community. He emphasised the importance of the ongoing partnership of parents, students and school, and also outlined his expectations in relation to academic standards.

Mr. Paul Maxted, the Coordinator of ICT at the College, then introduced parents to the College’s curriculum platform – MOODLE. In particular, the benefits to parents of keeping informed of what their son’s are doing at school and also how they are performing in the classroom.

The Year 7 Coordinator, Mr. Shaun Buckley then spoke about what is expected of the students in relation to the use of their technology in and out of the classroom. Rules and consequences were explained to the parents.

Finally, parents were given an opportunity to meet with their son’s Homeroom Teacher in their individual classrooms. During this opportunity, Homeroom Teachers outlined their own expectations of the students in the classroom and also handed to parents their login and password for Moodle

Thank you to the parents who attended the night and I look forward to your continuing support throughout the year.
