Warrnambool Music Tour Report
On Sunday 9 August 2015 55 Music students left on the annual Music Camp, this year travelling to Warrnambool. Over three action packed days the Concert and Stage Bands, String and Guitar Ensembles and College Choir played to seven local schools, sharing their talents with children who wouldn’t normally have the opportunity to experience such a live performance. Since the start of the year, these ensembles have been rehearsing every week, preparing repertoire for the biggest annual event in the music calendar.
This year the teachers took a step back from managing the shows and the students set up, hosted, introduced, played and packed up every performance; a lot of responsibility to take on but a great learning experience as well.
Every audience and every performance was unique and presented another opportunity for everyone to develop their musicianship in front of a captive audience. It was especially inspiring to see the smiles on each audience member’s face as they listened to (and in some cases danced to) the music. Spreading happiness and joy through music is one of the highlights of every Music Camp.
Every musician, both students and teachers, should be commended for making this tour our best yet!
