Year 5 enjoyed a great camp in fine weather at Torquay over three days in late April and early May. Boys enjoyed rock climbing in North Geelong, a visit to the Botanical Gardens in Geelong, beach activities including board riding, sand castle building and sand dune climbing, a trek to Erskine Falls in Lorne, outdoor meals, Spotlight, a DVD session and a lot of team bonding exercises.
The walk from Torquay to Bells Beach had outstanding views. The new camp-Grossman’s Cottages were excellent for our type of camp. Facilities included a full size oval, tennis court, covered eating area, commercial kitchen and very comfortable bunkroom accommodation.
Andrew Clements, Outdoor Education Coordinator, presented a range of varied, active and creative activities that challenged each boy to work harder and gain more confidence.
The weather was perfect, the food was nutritious and the whole experience was great fun.
Student feedback –“It was awesome”, “I never expected the amount of activities”, “It was the first time I have seen Erskine Falls!”, “Some people get up too early and make lots of noise”.
