Chaplain’s Notes

First Communion

Students are currently preparing to receive the Eucharist for the first time. First Communion will take place at St Anthony’s Glen Huntly on Sunday 13 November.

This week parents and students came together to plan their First Communion preparation as a family. As part of our evening together the candidates undertook a quiz with their parents, identifying all the things that are used in celebrating Eucharist. It was a journey of discovery for both the children and their parents!

There will be a preparation Mass and practise in St Anthony’s Church on Monday 7 November at 7:00pm.

Please keep these young people in your prayers as they prepare for this important moment in their lives.

 All Saints and all Souls

This coming weekend does not just celebrate a horse race, but two great feasts in the church year! We have been fortunate to have some very special celebrations in the College with the canonisation of St Solomon le Clercq, our newest Lasallian saint.

Solomon Homerooms came together to learn more about St Solomon and to share in prayer. A number of other classes have also taken the opportunity to learn more about this courageous man who gave his life rather than deny his God and his Church during the French Revolution.

On Wednesday when we return to school after the holiday break we mark All Souls day, as each year we recall and pray for those we love who have died. We ask a special blessing on the souls of those in your families who have left this world.

Our Year 7 classes have been treated to an exploration into what it means to live your life as a vocation, rather than just doing a job. To expand on this concept Br Mandy shared his own story with the students and allowed them to ask questions. The sessions were a lot of fun and a big learning curve for the boys.
