Donate now to our Christmas in July Giving Tree

Whilst Christmas seems a long time away, we are encouraging families to donate now to our Christmas in July Giving Tree, to help put a smile on the face of an underprivileged child in December.

Last year we ran a very successful Christmas Giving Tree in December for the Berry Street Childhood Institute, the delivery date was a little late for Berry Street staff to be able to distribute the gifts, as, like us, many kind donors were all delivering toys and gifts at the same time i.e. in the fortnight before Christmas. As such this year we are running a “Christmas in July Giving Tree.”

The Christmas season is still months away but as we look forward to this time of celebration, joy and love with our families, we must recognise that across the globe Christmas is a time of hardship and sorrow for many. De La Salle is asking that we think of those less fortunate in our community and how we may be able to assist. An intrinsic hallmark of being Lasallian is to identify a need in the community and then take action to address that need.

As such the College is once again supporting a Christmas Giving Tree for Berry Street Childhood Institute and we invite each student place a gift on behalf of their family under the tree. Students may donate a gift for either a boy or girl of open age however Berry Street have indicated that they have a need for gifts for teenagers as a priority. The joy your gift will bring to a child on Christmas morning is immeasurable.

The Giving Tree will be located in the Tiverton Reception area from Wednesday 11 July and will run until Friday 29 July. Gifts will be delivered to Berry Street in plenty of time for sorting and distribution well and truly in time for Christmas, avoiding the December rush.

At the request of Berry Street staff we ask that the gifts are not wrapped, rather placed in a bag under the giving tree. Please note aerosols/razors (gift packs) or pretend play weapons cannot be accepted.

On behalf of Berry Street Childhood Institute thank you for your support of this most deserving project.
