FReeZA Push Start Battle
The FReeZA Push Start competition showcases young musicians from around Victoria, giving them the opportunity to perform, gain local exposure, and win their way to a spot on the grand final line up.
Local heats are hosted by FReeZA Committees each year from March to August, with the winners going on to compete in regional finals from October to December. Winners from the nine regional finals then compete in the grand final held as part of the annual Melbourne Moomba Festival in March each year. Each FReeZA Committee that hosts a heat is supported to ensure that FReeZA Push Start is not only a platform for young performers, but a platform for young event organisers and promoters alike.
On Friday 15 July, De La Salle’s up and coming band Wood & Steel played at the local heat of the competition at the Prahran Town Hall. The audience experienced four great acts playing their best but at the end of the night Wood & Steel were triumphant! The prizes include a $1,000 recording package and they will progress to regionals, playing for a spot at the grand final at Moomba 2017. Wood & Steel are Addison Rowland, Jack Rhodes and Amy Rhodes. A big thanks to all the people who came out to support the band. We wish them all the best as they continue to make their mark.
