Book Week 2017 — Escape to Everywhere!

Tiverton campus was filled with enthusiastic students participating in exciting workshops presented around the 2017 Book Week theme, ‘Escape To Everywhere’.

On Tuesday, renowned illustrator Marc McBride provided his artistic skills to create three dramatic mythical dragons.

On Wednesday afternoon, popular children’s author Sally Rippin talked to the Primary students about how she got her ideas for her new book Polly and Buster.

On Friday, children’s author and illustrator Gabrielle Wang delivered three workshops demonstrating the intricate techniques of Chinese ink paintings. All of the students loved their finished paintings and were keen to take them home and tell family members about the Four Treasures sacred to Chinese painting.

The Primary students held their annual Book Character Parade on Wednesday to the delight of parents and grandparents. Costumes were devised using their vivid imaginations and demonstrated both creativity and the joy of escaping through reading their favourite picture-story books and novels.

Thank you to the visiting authors and illustrators, and the students and staff who put such thought and effort into their wonderful costumes. It was a great Book Week for all involved! Keep Reading!
