Productions with our Sister Schools

The Parent Network encourages parents to support these two upcoming productions, Stella and The Importance of Being Ernest.

For those of you who survived the 1980s, Stella will be a fluorescent skip down memory lane, with lots of music that will have you singing along! The Sacre Coeur and De La Salle College Senior musical production will be performed for two nights only — Thursday 14 and Friday 15 September at the wonderful National Theatre in St Kilda.

The Importance Of Being Ernest by Oscar Wilde is also being performed on Thursday 14 and Friday 15 September, at OLSH College Hall in Bentleigh. OLSH College and De La Salle College students are perfecting their witty delivery for this Senior Drama production.

You are spoilt for choice on 14 and 15 September! Booking information for both productions is in our Important Notices.

A Day at the Races

The Parent Network has held two big events in the last two weeks. On Saturday 19 August, 150 people braved the cold weather and headed to our annual Race Day at the Peter Lawrence Room at the Melbourne Race club. Our MC for the day was Samuel Hyland. He kept the crowd on their toes all day with racing stories and interviews with jockeys Craig Williams and Chris Symons. This year’s fashion parade was hosted by Mary Rose Millinery, Missie Jewellery and Australian Designers.

Father’s Day Breakfast 2017

The breakfast was a huge success with 530 fathers and sons attending in the college gymnasium. Our College Captain, James Biviano, other student leaders and Principal Mr Peter Houlihan addressed and welcomed everyone. The two guest speakers were Elijah Kingsley, a current Year 12 student and Tom Ponissi, a 2016 Old Collegian. Elijah spoke about the 2017 Yaluwo Immersion Experience and Tom spoke about the 2016 Coolies India Trip, both giving thoughtful insights into the programs.

There was an excellent spread and variety of foods, managed by all the volunteers, mainly mothers, who were there to help during the event. It was wonderful to see so many fathers and sons talking and enjoying their time together. This is certainly a very special event at De La Salle. I would like to thank Michael Bohan and his maintenance team for getting the gym ready, and most importantly a big thank you to all the mums who helped setup, serve and clean up after the event.

Over the last month we have been running Auction32, an online auction site that helps raise funds for projects at the school. This year we have raised just over $10,000 to go towards the attainment of 3D CNC (Computer Numerical Control) routing machine for the use in Technology and STEM based subjects.
