St Mark’s House scores a goal for Indigenous Literacy
On Friday 24 August, De La Salle hosted Aboriginal musician and World Vision Goodwill Ambassador, Scott Darlow. Scott played and spoke to a packed audience in the PAC, including St Mark’s House Leaders from Years 7, 8, 12, Primary and College Leaders. Opening The Doors Foundation Trustee, Emeritus Professor Gabrielle McMullen from Australian Catholic University also spoke on behalf of the Opening the Doors Foundation. Pictured below is St Mark’s House Leaders Adam Scandrett, Cameron Roberts, Angus McLean and James McCormack with Professor Gabrielle McMullen and Scott Darlow.
St Mark’s House “Football Jumper Day” on Wednesday August 29 managed to raise $1484.25 to be donated to St Mark’s House charity Opening the Doors Foundation. The Foundation provides grants towards the funding of educational costs such as school uniforms, books, school camps, excursions, levies and other school associated costs. The donation from St Mark’s House will help provide these educational resources and opportunities for disadvantaged indigenous students. On Footy Jumper Day, the presence of the AFL Cup was a highlight for many students.
Thank you to the students and staff that supported the St Mark’s House events.
Mr Paul Harrup
St Mark’s House Coordinator
