Lasallian Youth Minister Notes
What is all this MAD fuss about?
Mission Action Day (MAD for short), is an annual fundraising event at De La Salle College, Malvern, and it is a time where we come together as a community to make a difference and to raise funds to support our overseas Lasallian Projects.

De La Salle College, along with other Lasallian schools, has a long tradition of being people of action, and the generosity and commitment our community shows towards supporting our Lasallian brothers and sisters is admirable.
We really do make a difference to those who need our support.
On Mission Action Day, students from De La Salle College, Malvern, conduct an annual walk‐a‐thon, heading along the Gardiners Creek walking track in a loop extending from Kooyong to East Malvern. This walk enables students to get sponsors and to raise money for the poor and marginalised where the De La Salle Brothers are working.
The raised funds are put towards both local charitable needs and/or projects as well as towards Lasallian projects, for example; our Yaluwo Immersion at Diyagala Boys’ Town, in Ragama, Sri Lanka.
Most of these programs are about educating, feeding, housing and helping these poorer communities to acquire the basic necessities.
“Mission Action Day gives us all the opportunity to think of the needs of others and to then, as a community, do something practical to help that situation.”
Keep up the incredible work in preparing for Mission Action Day, and we look forward to your continued support in the final two weeks before MAD on Friday 5 April.
