Tiverton Campus
Year 5 - 8

The Tiverton Campus has continued to focus on the significance of staff and student mental and physical health. This is increasingly important whilst we continue remote learning.

Year 8 students completed their second session of the Future Proofing survey with the Black Dog Institute during their GROW classes, and all Tiverton students participated in Wellbeing Wednesday activities that focused on being active, learning something new, giving thanks, connecting with other people and taking care of our planet in order to be healthy, happy and well. In Year 8 Health and Physical Education classes, students completed an assignment on mental health awareness that asked students to:
  • define mental health and the differences between mental health and mental illness
  • identify the positive influences on our mental health, as well as the positive effects of good physical and social health
  • explain what services are available to all of us if our mental health deteriorates over this time
To assist with this focus on healthy lifestyles we are asking all students and staff to find time to read. Today, (Thursday 16 September) we are taking part in a national initiative, Australia Reads! This is a collaboration between authors, booksellers, libraries and publishers, born of a common passion for, and mutual interest in, championing reading, promoting the many mental health and lifestyle benefits of reading books. The idea is that readers take an hour out to read on one day.

Today, students and staff will be asked to read:
  • 20 minutes during GROW Wellbeing period
  • 20 minutes after lunch (usually ACC immersion time)
  • 20 minutes before bed
We look forward to seeing all the photos of staff and students taking time out to read and keep focusing on their mental, physical and social health.
