Sport Weekly Wrap Up
As of 3 February, our year long season of ACC was up and running. The seniors started us off with Cricket, Tennis and Volleyball. Although across the board we had disappointing results, we are looking to forget last week and improve for the following weeks.

On a nice green top at St Bede’s, De La Salle bowled first, although the fielding needed improvement, we bowled very tight and had St Bede’s finish their innings on 158 as a very chase-able target. Kurt A bowled exceptionally well, bagging 2 wickets as well as Cooper Ryan also taking 2 wickets. Into the batting and De La Salle were looking very strong at 0-12, however this is where it went downhill, with losing 3 quick wickets. Harris Carlin (18) was looking particularly strong when he ran himself out in a silly manner leaving us 6 for 43. Welling (37) top scored in a beautiful batting performance, however, it was not enough after we were bowled for all out for 110.

A close game here in the 2nds, as they only lost by five runs which hurts even more when it comes that close. A good performance by Jake Miller who was handy with the bat and a good all round bowling effort almost had the first win of the year.

A’s: Although starting the game with energy and finding themselves up in the first set by 6 points, the energy quickly faded in the second half of the first set, putting themselves down 1 set to 0 to St Mary’s. The second set started the same way and De La Salle was able to keep up the great play all set and levelling it out to 1 all. However, St Mary’s were here to play and came out scorching in the 3rd set to take the match 2 sets to 1.

B’s: Another loss, as the score of this game was again 2 sets to 1. However, it wasn’t without the efforts of George, who tried to put the team on his back with his outstanding play.

A disappointing result for the Blue and Gold in the Tennis as the scores were;

De La Salle 4 sets 57 games Def BY St Bede’s 8 sets 83 Games. Although good wins by Roch, Will, Hiroki and Tom C who managed to help out their team but we fell short at the end of the day.

Hopefully when we come out next week we get our first win of the new ACC season!
