22 JULY 2021

Faith and Mission

This year, NAIDOC week (4 - 11 July) was during the Term break. It is a celebration of history, culture, and the outstanding achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. The 2021 theme was “Heal Country”.

NAIDOC week is a significant week because we acknowledge all the traditional owners of all the lands upon which we gather. It reminds us to recognise the importance of reconciliation, learning, and listening to the stories of our Indigenous Owners as we pay our respects to Elders past, present and emerging.

“Heal Country” gives us an opportunity to learn from our First Nations people and understand “Country” as a part of Australia’s National Heritage and how to care for our common home.

Each year, NAIDOC week is an opportunity to recognise and remember to celebrate our Indigenous and Torres Strait Islander Brothers and Sisters every day of the year.
