Book Week at Tiverton Library
As every day is a reading day, any week can be Book Week! Coming back to school after lockdown we felt like we had missed out. Book Week is a time when we celebrate reading and the library. So, we just named a day and by the time the week came around we could even have a live workshop presenter for Year 5 and 6.
|
Our lunchtime activities included;
|
- Virtual Reality Literary Tours where we went into the Hogwarts Common Room, flew with dragons and went to Jurassic Park!
- The annual quiz was a hard-fought contest coming down to the wire. Teams battled it out, ate book worms and Bertie Botts Beans between rounds.
- Retro fun for computer age students with an old typewriter
- Staff verse students at Scrabble
Year 5 - 6 students had a visitor join us on campus. Melbourne comic book author and illustrator, Bernard Caleo, showed students how to draw a comic book. Every student came away with their own action comic drawn in their own hand.
|
We have been so impressed that students continued reading in lockdown. It is so much fun to celebrate this with them now that they are back.
