Congratulations ACC Chess Teams
Our Chess Teams have qualified for the National Chess Championship for both the Middle and Open Division.
|
|
Middle Division (Year 5 - 9):
|
On Tuesday 19 October our youngest representatives in the State competition took on 123 students from the Top 15 Middle Year Chess Schools in the State.
|
|
We had an incredible result of placing 7th overall, this is a triumphant feat as for most of these students it was their first year representing the College in an extra curricula activity.
|
|
|
|
Open Division (Year 10 - 12):
|
After a great performance from our Middle Year Level students, our Senior Team took to the board to show their moves on Wednesday 20 October.
|
Competing against 151 students from the Top 20 State Chess Schools, the Senior Team demonstrated a high quality performance with some well received competition.
|
|
The games were so close and the final rounds came down to a Stalemate (Draw) which was the difference of 2nd to 4th in placing! Our team achieved an amazing result of placing 4th overall.
|
|
|
Congratulations to both Chess Teams, we are looking forward to their results in the National Championships later this year.
