Mission Action Day 2022

On Friday 8 April 2022, a glorious Autumn day in Melbourne, our students gathered at Basil Street Oval in East Malvern from 8:45am in preparation for a 13km walk along Gardiner’s Creek Trail. This walk has become the public face of the signature fundraising event at the College – Mission Action Day, more colloquially known as MAD!

Staff had already been busy setting up marquees, speakers, barbecues and inflatable arches. They were directing students to the starting point and were moving to supervision points along the trail to ensure our event ran smoothly and safely. On cue, the students eagerly moved onto the trail at their designated release time and completed their walk. On return to Basil Street Oval, they were greeted with a free sausage and drink, some music and an ice cream van for those who chose to partake.

Prior to what unfolded as another outstanding day for our community, the campaign to provide support to Lasallian projects had been underway. A new collection platform called My Cause was introduced to enable students to seek sponsorship in a safe and efficient way and at the time of writing, over $78,500 has been raised. This is a truly magnificent effort. We have one week remaining to add to this total before donations are closed on 8 May.

Our final total, our top fundraisers and where the funds are to be distributed will be communicated when finalised. Our thanks to all staff, students, parents, Old Collegians, families and friends who contributed to our 2022 effort thus far. Your generosity is very much appreciated.
