Identity and Mission
Every two years, the Lasallian Mission Council hosts the Lasallian Youth Gathering (LYG).
The LYG is held for students throughout the ANZPPNG (Australia, New Zealand, Pakistan, Papua New Guinea) region.
LYG is an opportunity for like-minded students from all Lasallian schools to gather and participate in a range of skill building workshops in faith, life skills and future planning.
Back in 2019, LYG was held in Melbourne and was a successful venture that brought many young Lasallians together from various secondary schools from across the region.
This year, LYG 2022 - “Walking New Paths,” was held in Sydney during the Term 2 holidays. I was privileged to attend with a delegation of six of our Year 12 College Leaders, Peter Orlando, Sean MacNamara, Roch Dargan, Pete Pearse, Will Orton and Ben Wayman.
The delegates were involved in diverse and joyful experiences for secondary school students. It incorporated dynamic faith experiences, Lasallian community life, a live band, various sports tournaments, engaging workshops and inspiring keynote presentations.
LYG invites young people into a deep and authentic understanding of what it means to be a young Lasallian today. I look forward to attending the next gathering in 2024 with our next representative group of De La Salle College Lasallian Leaders.
