Media Report

Media students have displayed tremendous talent in their ability to create media products both in and out of the classroom.

The College AV Club was revived this year, providing an opportunity for students to work on their practical skills and develop their interest in film, TV, photography and media production. Open to Kinnoull students, members challenged themselves to create mini promo videos, photography posters and feature photographs of College events and activities. Special thanks to Year 12 students, Ollie McNeany and Lachie Richter, who have been instrumental in helping the club function. A highlight was the Mothers’ Lunch video directed and edited by Ollie McNeany and assisted by Harry Podeu and Max Kolpin.

Media in the classroom space begins at Year 9 at De La Salle with students having access to the wonderful resources that Holy Eucharist has to offer. Year 10 sees students challenge themselves to look at Media through a journalistic lens in Media: Inside the Newsroom or explore how meaning is created in iconic horror films in Media: Genre – Horror. Both electives see students analyse and create their own media products.

Our VCE students continued to impress in their ability to plan, design and create their unique media products. Media Awards Night was a highlight for Year 12 students who showcased their media products from the year. This evening showcased student films, magazines and animations.
