Year 9
The Year 9 WISE expedition took place at the end of Term 3 as the culminating event of the WISE program. This was the first time in over two years that a Year 9 camp was able to occur and there was much excitement and trepidation going into the challenging two day hike.

Students were placed in groups to walk at least thirty kilometres of either the Surf Coast or the Mornington Peninsula. In preparation for the expedition, students spent numerous Discovery classes learning how to use a trangia stove and set up a tent. They also planned their meals and packed their backpacks with essentials.

Students took off from Holy Eucharist at 7:00am on the morning of 14 September. A bright and sunny day allowed the groups to take in some of Victoria’s most scenic views with a heavy bag on their back. A very rainy night at the campsite provided numerous opportunities for both leadership and group collaboration.

Most students reflected positively on the expedition, with many great memories and learnings achieved. A lot of work went into supporting the Year 9 cohort on this expedition and the participation of all staff involved was greatly appreciated.
