AIMEL Rome - The International Assembly of the Lasallian Educational Mission
|
This will be the final time I write a Duce article this year as I will be in Rome for the Lasallian AIMEL Assembly for the next publication and then taking a period of leave for the remainder of the year.
|
The Lasallian world is currently preparing to meet and celebrate the second phase of The International Assembly of the Lasallian Educational Mission. It is with much humility, that I was invited to be the representative Australian delegate at the assembly. Since March 2020, I have been involved in the first phase with many late night international zoom sessions and preparation work in the lead up to the culmination of the international assembly gathering together. This will take place at the De La Salle Brothers General House in Rome.

During this first phase, much time was spent planning and working through definitions of the objectives of the Lines of Action that will help the delegates of the assembly achieve the many proposals voted on. For the second phase, I will be travelling to Rome in late October. During my time in Rome, the Lines of Action that have been developed since 2020 will be reviewed and the goals by the working groups will be considered and further revisions and suggestions made. It is together and by association that we can build new paths for peace, inclusion and for a love of faith and justice. Together, we make things possible.

This week, we remember our Year 12 students as they draw closer to their final day at De La Salle College and as they prepare for their Valedictory Mass at St Patrick’s Cathedral and final dinner at the Sofitel on Collins.

This is an exciting and overwhelming time as they reflect on a very special period of their schooling. We pray that their final exams are a celebration of everything that has been learned during their time at the College. Each of them has grown to become a fine young Lasallian.

Finally, as we draw closer to Christmas, I wish you all a happy and holy Advent season. May everyone return in the new year renewed and in good health.
