The Principal's Report

As 2022 closes, I would like to thank all in our De La Salle community for their support, contributions and hard work this year. It has been fantastic to have a full, “normal” year onsite and to also be able to engage with parents in person at so many traditional and new, exciting events.

I must extend a heartfelt thank you to all the staff who do so much for our students. At De La Salle we are blessed with excellent teachers and support staff who are tremendous role models with their guidance and high expectations. In an increasingly complex landscape for adolescents, they manage the volatility and uncertainty and guide our young men with compassion and care.

We are now in the season of Advent leading up to Christmas, traditionally a very happy time of year, full of hope and generosity of spirit. It is my hope and prayer that you can reflect on your year, be content with your life and feel you can approach Christmas and the holidays in a positive frame of mind.

As Catholics, we are focused on the importance of hope during this liturgical season dedicated to preparing for Christmas. Advent offers us the opportunity to rediscover the beauty of being together, so keep that in mind and enjoy the time of hope and promise with your family as you prepare for Christmas Day.

As you approach Christmas with your friends and family, I would ask each of you to bear in mind the real meaning of Christmas and give at least a thought to the very many in our society less fortunate than us, even right here in Melbourne.

I wish you and your families all a safe, happy and holy Christmas. I look forward to seeing all our 2023 cohort back fresh and ready to go on the very first day of classes next year!
