The Principal's Report
A warm welcome to the 2023 school year to all in our De La Salle community. Due to the positive approach, commitment and expertise of virtually everyone across the entire staff, it has been a very smooth beginning to the academic year. I would like to thank all our staff and acknowledge their contributions in ensuring all ran well.

The key evidence of a successful start is happy students on the first day. It was terrific to greet the very many new students, especially the Year 5s and Year 7s, on Tuesday; so excited, so full of optimism and promise. Young people have so much to give and it was great to speak with excited, enthusiastic students – and parents! - as they arrived. A little nervousness from some families but in seeing the students out the gate at the end of the day I was struck not only by the high level of excitement around having had a great first day but also the warmth and politeness with which our new students spoke to me on their way home.

I must acknowledge the vast, overwhelming majority of students who returned to school well within the guidelines for hair/grooming, shaving, uniform, punctuality and general organisation. An integral feature of the De La Salle community is the positive partnership between staff, students and parents. As mentioned in my video posted on OLLIE last week, the college operates very smoothly when parents are aware of and support staff in our standards, expectations, policies and rules for the students, so thank you. The Parent Handbook on OLLIE is a valuable resource.

Like every year, Term 1 promises to be very busy with many events and commitments for each Year Level. All students will need to be well organised and work closely with their House / Class Mentor to ensure they are aware of expectations, deadlines and events’ details. Parents can access and check all these via OLLIE. I look forward to catching up with families at one or more of the Term 1 events.
