On Wednesday 15 March, 33 French students from Years 10, 11 and 12 headed off to the Palace Cinema in Balwyn accompanied by Madame Johnson, Monsieur Yep and our student teacher Monsieur Vignaud. We took two trams which was an adventure in itself, especially when an accident ahead of the 109 tram required us to get off and walk the remaining two stops.

Heureusement we made it with a few minutes spare, enough for the boys to indulge in giant buckets of popcorn.

The film we saw was Tenor, a film where the world of suburban Parisian rap meets the Parisian operatic world. Some rough street language, fighting and rap combined with the beauty of opera helped keep the boys entertained and reinforced a lot of the learning that has taken place in the senior classrooms around street language and modern French music.  Based in Paris it was also a feast for our eyes.

Attending the annual French Film Festival has become a special tradition for the senior French students and one that they look forward to each year.

We would love Years 7 to 9 to also see a film, so if you can squeeze it in you will not be disappointed. The link to the movies available is here.
