Ingenuity and Conversation Days

The buzz around learning at the Holy Eucharist campus continued throughout the middle part of Term 3 with the students experiencing learning outside of the classroom once again through the annual Ingenuity and Conversation days.

Thomas James, Captain of Holy Eucharist Campus, had this to say in his recount of Conversation Day, celebrating the languages learnt by the students at the campus:

"In Term 3, our cohort was lucky enough to experience the annual Conversation Day, where students from Italian and French would do activities relating to their languages. There were foods given out such as crepes and pasta and we even got to wear casual clothing (representing the colours of the French and Italian flags, of course). This day was really important as it helped us gain insight and further knowledge on this particular subject, which is a big deal considering we had subject selection coming up. Some of the key activities we participated in were Soccer, Bocce, Arts/Crafts and Karaoke. We learnt a lot on Conversation Day, and I’m sure the tradition will continue for following year 9’s."

The Ingenuity experience involved the students going back to the city, much like their Alliance experience, and looking at the world through a Mathematical and Scientific lens, asking the question whether the world we currently have can continue or does it need to adapt. The students investigated this question through looking at the construction of the world around us; visiting the Metro Tunnel educational hub and learning about the construction of a key piece of infrastructure in the city, followed by a visit to the Melbourne Museum where they learnt more about our planet and what is possibly beyond that may support our adaptation in an ever changing world. A fantastic experience for the students to be a part of.
