Conversation Day

Our annual Conversation Day was held at Holy Eucharist on Friday 11 August. The Year 9’s had an enriching and educational experience during the day, immersing themselves in the vibrant cultures of Italy and France. A very special thanks to the Year 11 Language students and their teachers Signora Marino and Madame Johnson for providing invaluable assistance on the day.

The day was filled with some healthy competition between Team France and Team Italy where students competed in various activities including soccer, bocce/petanque, arts and craft, and believe it or not Karaoke! There were prizes for the best participant in each activity and points were tallied up for the overall winning Team….that being Team Italy!

At recess the air was filled with a delicious French aroma where students and teachers were treated to authentic French crepes. The competition continued with a quiz before bellies were filled once again, this time soaking up the deliciousness of freshly made Italian pasta at lunchtime.

Once all the competitiveness was done, our Year 11 Language students ran a question and answer session for the Year 9’s, re-telling their language journey and highlighting all the benefits of learning a language. The Year 9 students kept them very busy asking pertinent questions and seeking guidance with language choices.

The overwhelmingly positive response from all students reaffirms the continual need in celebrating diverse cultures and nurturing a love for language learning. Special thanks to all the dedicated staff members who made this enjoyable day possible.
