The Principal's Report

On Friday 12 May we marked Founder’s Day, a day to celebrate and reflect on the rich history of the Lasallian mission and celebrate the work of St John Baptist de La Salle, whose vision and dedication launched the worldwide Lasallian network, with over one million students in Lasallian education today, in 81 countries.

It is interesting to note how the Founder’s legacy, his methods of running an effective school, have endured for 340 years and are relevant and visible here in Malvern in 2023.

I would like to share with you what I think it means to be Lasallian. I ask each of our students and staff to think about these ideas and how they may apply them to everyday life, especially here at school.

  • Being a Lasallian student means being a bigger brother to younger year groups and helping those who need it.
  • "Enter to learn, leave to serve" is a common message in Lasallian schools around the world. To go out into the community and the broader world in order to serve and make a difference.
    Be your own 'gentleman.'
  • To be a Lasallian means that you keep Saint John Baptist de La Salle's mission at the core of the way you conduct yourself.
  • Treat others the way you would like to be treated.
  • Being a Lasallian means to be the best person one can be and always striving for more in your life.
  • We encourage inclusivity and justice. We accept difference and we are not judgmental.

We invite students to consider questions of social justice and encourage them to commit to the construction of a more just society.

These common themes are the platform on which our everyday practice is built, combining to make De La Salle Malvern a wonderful, caring, contemporary environment where each student may flourish.
