Italian Cultural and Language Tour 2019

The Italian Cultural and Language Tour took place from 16 September to 2 October and proved a great opportunity for our language students to immerse themselves in Italian culture and language.

Thirteen students and three staff members participated. The Tour started with three days in Venice. We were very lucky that our tour coincided with the Biennale Contemporary Art Exhibition, which was a huge highlight of the trip.

Next, it was three days in Florence where we got to see the real statue of David and the breathtaking artworks in the Uffizi Gallery. Upon leaving Florence, we visited Pisa and climbed the famous leaning tower. We then spent five days in the small hilltop town of Orvieto, where the students attended language classes.

Finally, we spent three days in Rome, visiting the Vatican, the Colosseum and other iconic places, such as the Trevi Fountain and the Pantheon. The tour was jam-packed with many highlights and was very successful. The group was challenged to work as a team, mature and improve their Italian. So many came back inspired to continue their studies of Italian, History and Arts. The students’ behaviour and commitment to making the most of the experience was a real credit to the College community and their families!
