De La Salle College

Holy Eucharist Year 9 Campus

On Thursday 31 January 2019 De La Salle College created history as we opened our new, dedicated Year 9 Campus in Malvern East.

The Holy Eucharist Campus is De La Salle’s third campus and establishes the College as the first Lasallian school to have a self-sufficient, standalone campus for Year 9 students.

Reflecting on the first day, Head of Campus, Mr David Alexander said, “There was unbridled excitement — from teachers, staff and parents alike. Some students even suggested they felt like Year 7 students again, entering a new school.”

The dedicated campus provides operational autonomy and allows for the delivery of a customised program which is authentic, meaningful and distinctive to Year 9 students. “The team of teachers bring a great mix of energy, experience and innovation. Together our vision is to promote an environment where students are more empowered and self-motivated. This environment was evident as soon as timetabled classes for the year began,” said Mr Alexander.

The campus opening has been a five year journey for the College, dating back to 2014 when the Year 9 curriculum was thoroughly reviewed, and the need for change was identified. The Holy Eucharist Campus is the product of years of work and consideration, and the College is incredibly proud of the end result.

An intensive program of renovation and refurbishment has turned the previous Holy Eucharist Primary School into a genuine 21st century learning environment, ideally placed to equip our young men with the skills required to take their part in the future they will play their part in creating.
