Write a Book in a Day

A marathon took place on Monday 30 August with three teams entering the annual Write a Book in a Day competition run by The Kids’ Cancer Project. Teams were given scene parameters and random words which must be included. Why else would you have a novel about a fish called Nemo who does Pilates or a road trip across the Nullabor with three members of the Penola Pineapples football team who encounter the astronaut, Andy Thomas and search for bits of Skylab. The senior story about Special Agent Leonard has Russian spies, cats and coffee.

The stories in the competition are then made available in digital editions and shared in hospitals throughout Australia. Developing the ideas to form a plot and then writing as a team is in itself a crazy thing to do, but to do it between 8am and 8pm on one day is a magnificent effort from our students.

Congratulations to all the authors:

Junior School:Family Road Trip in Space and Tme” by Thomas Krup, Marco Paroli, Xavier Brandham and Lachie Julier.

Middle School: Nemo’s World Famous Pilates Adventure” by Flynn Kenworthy, Jeremy Vatta, Liam Carrick, Scott Sisson, Aidan O’Flynn, Ethan Eustace, Struan Buick, Geordie Tsirigotis and Ryan Tatlis.

Senior School:Special Agent Leonard” by Gus Kopczowski, Max Kovacevic, Josh Salmon, Thomas Andrewartha, Cormac Fleming and Tom Hobbins.

Thank you to Chris Fleming and Catherine Ryan who assisted on the day.
