Tiverton Campus
Year 5 - 8

In the past week, the Year 8 students were encouraged to take risks, become vulnerable, get out of their comfort zones and to challenge themselves in the Year 8 activities week.

It all started on Wednesday 27 April with an assembly that featured Olympic hockey superstar, Sophie Taylor, and her messages about growth, progress and learning from setbacks was inspiring, timely and communicated effectively. We also discussed the need for our students to have fun but be respectful of others and to get support from those they trust with all the activities ahead. Students then undertook a range of activations from SEDA and the Black Hat Workshop that stretched the students thinking and energy levels for the rest of the day.

On Thursday 28 April, Year 8 students met at Parliament Station or Federation Square and set out on an amazing race that incorporated the State Library, Melbourne Museum, the MCG and the Old Melbourne Jail. After walking more than 10 kilometres, the students left the city tired but satisfied.

On the final day of the program Friday 29 April, students enjoyed the fun and the adventure of the Melbourne Cable Park in Patterson Lakes. Students loved the thrill of weight boarding, high ropes and the biggest water park in Australia. They once again left exhausted, with new friends made and many stories told.

Many thanks to all the staff involved in the program but especially Year 8 Coordinator, Susan Kiernan, whose organisation, passion and positivity made this amazing week possible for our Year 8 students.
