Year 5 - 8
At recent assemblies we have rewarded students in a variety of ways across a number of different aspects of school life, such as:

- Pennants for the winning Year 8A soccer team
- Certificates for the Primary regional basketball champions
- Library Team Leader, Catherine Ryan, provided lollies for the best readers in each Year Level from the De La Salle Reads competition
- Australian Mathematics Award recipients
- Medals for the following students on their first places at the House Cross Country competition:

Year 7: Jack Satterley and Charlie Hill (St Edwin’s House)
Year 8: Daniel Shine (St Leo’s House)
Well done on all your fine achievements at the College over the last Term.

In recent Primary, Year 7 and 8 assemblies, I have referred to a recent article I read that addressed the need for all children deserving a school that is safe and calm and everyone is treated with dignity and respect. At an all boys’ school and where 400 students on the Tiverton Campus are aged between 10 – 14, it is not an easy task to achieve this every day. However, the Tiverton Wellbeing team strives to improve the behavior of our students one day at a time.

The article titled “If Children aren’t behaving, they’re not learning, growing or thriving” (Tom Bennett, Sydney Morning Herald) explains the need for students to be safe at all times is important as this will naturally improve a students’ wellbeing and mental health, allow them to grow and learn more within the classroom and out on the school yard. Students will also flourish, experience success and transition better between Year Levels as a result. Our focus between now and the end of the year is to ensure students continue to grow and form positive relationships with all students.
