Setting High Expectations

The theme for Tiverton this Term has been centered around setting high expectations. Pleasingly over the past few weeks, I have seen great participation and a high level of skill in a variety of curriculum areas from our Middle School students. These have included students getting involved and engaged in Science Week and Book Week activities, History and Maths competitions, and the First Pivot Public Speaking Primary incursion. This highlights not only the high level of skill our students possess but also, and perhaps more importantly, demonstrates what groups of people can achieve when they come together with a common goal.

This concept of groups of people coming together to achieve high standards is common in our College. It is evidenced in classes, in sporting teams and outstanding ACC and Primary Dendy Sport results, in the various co-curricular activities students undertake outside of the classroom, and even in the way they interact with one another. For example, this term all mentor classes collected for our annual Food Drive for those less fortunate. It showed the students coming together for a common purpose, a commitment to high achievement and working collaboratively to achieve this set goal. It is not surprising that we have a high-performance environment here at De La Salle College.
