De La Salle College Alumni Michael Gleeson named Sports Journalist of the Year

De La Salle College proudly celebrates Old Collegian Michael Gleeson (Class of 1986), who has been named Australian Sports Journalist of the Year at the prestigious Melbourne Press Club Quill Awards.

A senior writer with The Age, Michael was recognised for his outstanding contribution to sports journalism, including his compelling coverage of emerging Australian sprint star Gout Gout and his insightful AFL commentary. Judges praised his ability to bring readers closer to the story through sharp analysis, strong storytelling and a deep understanding of the game.

Michael’s achievement places him at the forefront of sports journalism in Australia and reflects a career built on consistency, integrity and excellence in reporting.
