Years 10 to 12

As we reach the end of another rewarding term, it is a pleasure to reflect on the remarkable range of experiences, achievements and opportunities that have shaped Senior School life at De La Salle College. Across the classroom, sporting fields, stage, creative spaces and wider community, our students have continued to demonstrate the energy, commitment and spirit that make our Senior School such a vibrant place to learn and grow. The performing arts have been a particular highlight, with students taking to the stage for Puff: The Musical. The production showcased our students’ creativity, confidence and teamwork, while our 80s Extravaganza music night provided another memorable celebration of music and performance.

Our Art & Technology Exhibition was also a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the imagination, skill and perseverance of our students. The quality and diversity of the work on display demonstrated the value of giving young people opportunities to create, experiment and bring their ideas to life.

Sporting achievement has once again been a significant feature of the term. Our ACC Senior Basketball A and B teams enjoyed impressive wins, while our Senior Hockey team completed an undefeated season – an outstanding achievement that reflects the dedication of both players and coaches. Our ACC Chess team also claimed first place in Division 2, showcasing strategic thinking, patience and composure.

Our student filmmakers also took home Best Short Film and Best Cinematography at the inaugural ACC Short Film Competition for No Country For Stolen Pens. The award-winning film will be screened alongside our Year 12 Media work at the College’s Media Awards Night at Lido Cinemas in October.

Beyond sport, our Year 10 Debating Team finished runners-up in the finals, demonstrating excellent preparation, confidence and communication. Year 10 students also participated in RYDA Road Safety Training, developing important skills around responsible decision-making, risk awareness and safe behaviours.

The Year 11 Social was another highlight, bringing students together for an enjoyable evening with friends. It was a welcome opportunity to celebrate friendships and create lasting memories as they approach their final year at the College.

Just as importantly, our House Soirees provided opportunities for students to come together, strengthen House identity and build a greater sense of belonging. These occasions are an important part of the Senior School experience and reflect the strong community we seek to foster.

Together, these events demonstrate the breadth of Senior School life at De La Salle. Whether performing, competing, debating, creating, developing life skills or simply coming together as a community, our students have embraced opportunities to challenge themselves and contribute to College life.

I congratulate all of our students on their efforts this term and thank our staff, coaches and families for the support they continue to provide. The achievements of this term are certainly something to be proud of, and I look forward to seeing what the remainder of the year brings.
