De La Salle College Malvern is proud to celebrate a remarkable achievement at the Stawell Gift, with two students claiming victories across the Easter carnival.
Leading the way was Jack Densley, who delivered an outstanding performance to win the Under 18 800m Handicap Final. Demonstrating composure, strength and race awareness, Jack executed his composure and endurance with confidence to secure a well-earned victory in a highly competitive field.

Adding to the celebrations, Josh Hegan produced a brilliant sprint to win the Bill Howard 100m Handicap Final, crossing the line in an impressive 10.6 seconds. His performance highlighted both speed and precision under pressure, rising to the moment on one of Australia’s most historic athletics stages.

First run in 1878, the Stawell Gift is renowned for its unique handicap format and enduring place in Australian sporting tradition. To see two De La Salle students succeed at this level is a significant achievement and a reflection of their dedication and commitment to their training.
We are incredibly proud of both students and the way they represent our community, competing with determination and humility and once congratulate Jack and Josh on their outstanding achievements. We look forward to following their continued success.
